What is Live Painting?
Live painting is a unique service where an artist creates a detailed, real-time painting during an event, such as a wedding or celebration. Unlike traditional painting, which can take weeks or months in a studio, live painting requires the artist to work quickly and skillfully, capturing the essence and emotions of the moment as they happen.
This service is unique because it combines the artist's technical skill with the spontaneity of the event, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece of art that reflects the atmosphere, emotions, and special moments in a way that a photograph or video cannot. The speed and precision needed for live painting make it a truly impressive and memorable experience for everyone involved, leaving the couple or event host with a cherished, personalized keepsake.
The Process
BEFORE
After reviewing the packages on the next page, you can submit an inquiry form to begin the process of securing your date. Once your inquiry is approved, you’ll be prompted to pay a 25% retainer fee to officially reserve your date and sign the agreement. About one month before your wedding, I will reach out to you via a virtual call to confirm all the details of your big day, including selecting your special moment. After this, you’ll finalize the remainder of your payment and confirm how many hours the venue will allow me to set up before the wedding.
DURING
Once I arrive, I will set up and prep your painting with a pre-approved background within 1-2 hours. My process is designed to be dynamic and engaging, especially for your guests. I begin painting directly onto the canvas without the use of preliminary sketches, a technique that not only showcases my expertise but also enhances the overall value of this service. With my background in photography, I will capture beautiful moments for you to choose from before I start refining your painting throughout the event for 6+ hours. I encourage your guests to chat with me at my easel—this is a special opportunity for them to witness and be a part of the creative process. By the end of your wedding, the painting will be 90% to 100% complete.
AFTER
If needed, your painting will be touched up in the studio and sealed with varnish. The turnaround time for this process is 1 to 3 weeks, depending on the painting’s size, oil typically takes 2 weeks to cure. Per our agreement, your painting will either be delivered or available for local pickup, with any additional charges applied accordingly.
