Yashiva Robinson
Yashiva Robinson (b. 1989), a Haitian American, brings 30 years of experience as a Trailblazing Multidisciplinary Creative, having explored diverse avenues within the spheres of Art & Fashion. Born and raised in the bustling heart of Overtown, formerly named Colored Town, Yashiva's artistic voyage has been enriched by her diverse cultural lineage and abundant life episodes. This upbringing has made her quite the vibrant expressionist, evident in both her fashion choices and creative endeavors.
From a very young age Yashiva’s impressively innate ability to draw things exactly as she saw them garnered the attention from her kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade teachers. Yashiva’s teachers then advised her mother to audition Yashiva for a prominent magnet art school in South Miami. This is when her business acumen developed at the age of 7; commissioned by her peers to draw Pokémon characters on 8x10’s.
Beyond that point Yashiva has attended renowned magnet art & design schools. From the age of 5 she’s been inspired by the likes of Van Gogh, Romero Brito, Roy Litchenstein, Keith Haring, Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dali, M.C Escher, Caravaggio, & Parmigannino.
Throughout Yashiva's youth, she engaged in drawing, painting, etching, crafting miniature clay sculptures, pottery, and delving into film photography. Today, she is renowned for challenging societal norms and addressing taboo subjects, skillfully incorporating her signature motif and vibrant color palette across all her works.
Navigating social media & Miami’s art scene as a freelance creative since 2009 has given Yashiva an understanding of how to effectively operate in business & attract ideal clientele.
Consequently, due to Yashiva’s dissipating interest in Fine Art in 2022, she made the decision to focus completely on being a fashion designer for the next 30 years. In doing so, she underwent a purging transformation in all areas of her life. This transformation led Yashiva into her walk with Christ. Ultimately, it also reignited her passion for Fine Art.
During the second quarter of 2023, Yashiva rededicated her life to Christ, and things haven’t been the same since. God since then has revealed to Yashiva her purpose & the talents she’s been neglecting along with putting a ministry to foster on her heart. Because of this redirection, Yashiva plans to replace all of her old body of work in relation to her shifted values.
Starting her walk with Christ as a creative was uneasy due to lack of representation. Yashiva’s mission is to have fewer creatives feeling this way when entering their walk & to set them up for success in all other areas along the way. So to create an even more seamless transition for other reborn creatives, it was easier to identify what Yashiva’s role in all of this was with the aid of the Holy Spirit.
And this is why Yashiva’s purpose is to beautify the world, bring more awareness to the Gospel, empower Christian Creatives to flourish & shape impactful communities to better serve the Kingdom & effectively thrive within the marketplace.
