Reflections on Process in the Miami Fashion Illustration Space

Reflections on Process in the Miami Fashion Illustration Space

When Studio Work Feels Different

The one space I felt would be safe from the harm of AI was the live fashion illustration industry. This industry is built on live art, but it has come to my attention that a Miami fashion illustrator is deciding to also provide what appears to be studio services, when in reality it could be the use of AI. To be honest, it went over my head at first because typically a studio piece would differ from a live sketch. However, in the case of this artist, it was a huge jump.

Due to my subconscious fast living, I didn’t recognize the jump in skill. I simply gave excuse for it. But after living more slowly recently and resetting, it was clear that this genuinely did not feel like the artist’s work.

A simple litmus test going forward for me, when observing any Miami fashion illustrator or any other visual artist choosing to show and provide services with a massive leap in skill, is to show proof of their more advanced skill. If I only see the product and not the process, I have no other choice but to withhold confirming authenticity until proven otherwise. I suggest you do the same.
